Located near Gatlinburg, Tennessee, Ober
\nGatlinburg is the only ski resort in the state. It is
\nmore than just a ski resort, however. It is a complete
\nfamily vacation spot with an amusement park, indoor
\nice skating, a bungee tower, an alpine slide, and
\nmany other activities and attractions \u0096 there is
\nsomething to please everyone.<\/p>\n
With an elevation of 3301 feet, and a vertical drop of
\n600 feet, Ober Gatlinburg features eight trails: two
\nbeginner trails, four intermediate trails, and two
\nadvanced trails. There are three lifts, including two
\nquad lifts, one double lift, and one surface lift. The
\nseason runs from the middle of December through
\nearly March, and night skiing is allowed on all trails
\nexcept the Grizzly trail.<\/p>\n
Rentals are available for both ski equipment and
\nsnowboarding equipment. Private and group lessons
\nfor skiing and snowboarding are also available
\nthrough the Smokey Mountain Snow Sport School.
\nYou can also easily find food at the many snack
\nbars, food carts, the caf\u00e9, the restaurant, or in the
\nlounge.<\/p>\n
You must not miss the longest chair lift ride in the
\nsouth! You will see awesome views of the Great
\nSmoky Mountains. You will also get a bird\u0092s eye
\nview of some of the slopes, and you can have your
\npicture taken on top of the mountain. If you don\u0092t
\nski, don\u0092t worry! You can ride back down the
\nmountain on the chair lift as well. Don\u0092t forget the
\nTramway. The tramway departs from downtown
\nGatlinburg and takes you to the ski resort and the
\namusement park. <\/p>\n
Even if you don\u0092t ski, you can still explore the thrill
\nof flying down a mountain at a high speed \u0096 or a
\nslow speed if you choose. This is possible with the
\nAlpine Slide. The slide is approximately 1800 feet
\nlong, and takes you down a winding wooded slope.
\nYou have total control over your speed with the
\nuse of a braking device on each sled. Other
\nattractions at the amusement park include the
\nBlack Bear Habitat, a bungee jump, a water race,
\ngo karts, indoor ice skating, kiddie land, an arcade,
\nminiature golf, a Spider Web Velcro Wall Jump,
\nwater rides, and a shooting range.<\/p>\n
No matter what type of fun or adventure you are
\nseeking, there is something to satisfy everyone in
\nthe family at Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort and
\nAmusement Park. This is definitely a trip worth taking
\n\u0096 especially if you have younger kids or senior
